Psychological Assessment and Evaluation

We are pleased to offer psychological testing for adults and child to assess  for Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), mood clarification and personality evaluation.  Testing typically involves a full clinical interview and a battery of psychological tests that are determined by the goal of the assessment.

ADHD Assessments:

This specialty evaluation provides a comprehensive, multimodal analysis that accurately identifies this disorder, based on several sources of data. Specifically, this assessment combines parent, teacher, and child reports as well as clinician observations and research-based assessment tools.

ADHD consists of three problem areas:
  • Inattention is the inability to give full attention and focus to a task or activity. Children with high levels of inattention often become bored easily, do not follow through on instructions, lose their belongings, or make careless mistakes.
  • Impulsivity is the inability to think before acting. Children with high levels of impulsivity often interrupt others, blurt out answers, or have trouble waiting their turn.
  • Hyperactivity is being constantly active or “on the go.” Children with high levels of hyperactivity often are restless, fidget, talk excessively, or are unable to play quietly.
Not all three of these symptoms are present in most children diagnosed with ADHD. Some children may only be unable to sustain attention. While other children may be hyperactive, but still able to attend to their environment. However, many children with ADHD have some symptoms of inattention and impulsivity.

This assessment offered at Eastside Psychology covers several life areas including:
  • Developmental History
  • Family History
  • Academic Functioning
  • Intellectual Functioning
  • Tests of attention. impulse control, and executive function
  • Screening for other disorders or co-occurring conditions

Results and recommendations will be compiled into a report that can be shared with the child’s pediatrician, teachers, and other professionals.
